'Camo', my collected images of people wearing camouflage, started with a single image, captured on a certain camera, the subject secretly observed, shot from the hip and fueled by my embarrassing love of military history.
At first here was no point to my 'project', someone I held close often said it was a 'weird' focus and even one time said it was stupid...
I didn't care, I knew she was wrong or at least, impolite. Besides... I couldn't stop. People wear camouflage, army surplus stores in the 70's sold the stuff, mostly American from different decades of the recent past.
Once you see it it's hard not to, some wear it intentionally others, unconsciously because it was the hot item at their favorite clothing outlet... Rarely, as an adult do I put in on camo, yes, I own some interesting and vintage pieces...
Most wearers of Camouflage do so with some sort of pride, to stand out, to embrace a struggle or stand with others or a group. For me camouflage is about a history and that history provides clues to the camo's past and just maybe the wearers personal views.
